Woman Killed In Hit-And-Run

A woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday in the 5800 block of St. Claude Avenue.
When Fifth District officers arrived, they found the African-American woman unresponsive near the street. Emergency medical technicians pronounced her dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.
Officers immediately noticed signs that she had been hit by a vehicle.
Investigators have not identified the driver or the make and model of the vehicle that struck her, but they said it likely has obvious damage from the impact.

The Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
